Located on Loeperplatz, the village green of the former village of Lichtenberg, opposite the old Lichtenberg parish church, is a memorial to the victims of fascism. The memorial was probably erected already in 1948, making it one of the first memorials to the victims of fascism in Berlin. It was most likely set up on the initiative of the Association of Victims of the Nazi Regime (Vereinigung der Verfolgten des Naziregimes, VVN). Despite intensive research efforts, no more is known about the circumstances under which the memorial was erected.

The memorial consists of a large block of stone on which a red, upside down pyramid is mounted. Inscribed on the pyramid are the letters »KZ« (which stands for Konzentrationslager: concentration camp). The pyramid symbolises the red triangle which the SS used to mark political prisoners in concentration camps. The red triangle with the letters »KZ« was a frequently used symbol on political posters and publications of the Committees of Victims of Fascism, the precursor of the VVN association. The memorial was probably dedicated in 1948 and restored in the 1960s. Remembrance ceremonies are regularly held at the memorial.
